St John's Church

If you can find windmill through the lychgate Lytham's lovely old Windmill on the Green, then you can't miss St John's Church - it's almost directly opposite, on the other side of the Beach Road. Here it is pictured through the Church's lychgate. You can find the church on a map by clicking here.

St Johns is part of the Anglican Community, within the Blackburn Diocese, and the Kirkham Deanery. It is one of two Parish Churches in Lytham, and its Parish is, essentially, the older part of the Town to the the east of Lytham Centre. It was a founder member of the Lytham Ecumenical Partnership, and enjoys an excellent working relationship with all of the other Churches in Lytham.

There are four regular services every week:

Wednesday at 7:00 pmSilent Prayer (in the Memorial Chapel)
Thursday at 11:00 amHoly Communion
Sunday at 8:00 amHoly Communion
Sunday at 10:30 amParish Communion

There are, of course, other Services, and the full calendar for this month can be seen here. Residents or Visitors are very welcome at any of our Services. There is, at the back of the Church, a delightful screened-off area set aside for young children (pictured here), and plenty to keep them occupied during the Service under the supervision of a parent. On the second Sunday of each month, there is a "parade" Service for our two packs of Brownies and their parents.

The Church was consecrated in November 1850 and is one of the few completely stone buildings in the Town. It has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment and the pictures below show how attractive it is now.
